Example of
industrial use
Flower pots are
used to simulate confidential product
The situation
- Great variety of parts:
- Made to order part
- Small lot
- Manufacturer doesn’t have CAD
- No fixture
- Production planning impossible
- Simple task, slit part in two

Many low volume parts
Any one of theses parts have to be slit in two... And many more

Solution
Components:
- 6-Axis robot
- Rotation table
- 3D laser scanner
- Plasma cutter
- Software suite for:
- Creating parametric families
- Robot path planning
- Automated sequence making
- Point of cloud analysis

1. Load Part
The part is loaded on rotation table.
Part can be tilted and off-center.

2. Set Parameters
Cutting information is entered either:
1- By the operator through a prompt screen
2- Automatically from user define default

3. Part scanning
Based on maximum working envelope, robot scan complete volume to find and digitalize part.

4. Part analysis
In real-time, the part is analysed based on its 3D features. Automatically, part’s axis is determine and cross section is generated.

5. Path generation

The robot path is generated using cross section of scanned part

6. Robotized cutting
Robot used generated path to cut part in two.
Plasma torch is here simulated using a pen.
